Cartica Management is pleased to announce that we have joined the Brazilian Coalition on Climate, Forests and Agriculture, a cross-sector coalition of more than 200 investors, companies, nonprofits, and academics dedicated to driving sustainable and inclusive growth while promoting conservation and addressing climate change.

As an investor in Brazil for many years, Cartica has seen firsthand the importance of leadership from the public and private sectors in working to transition to a more sustainable economy.  We support the Coalition’s goal to preserve and utilize natural resources in a sustainable way through innovations in agriculture, smart land use, and improved monitoring technology to combat illegal deforestation, for example. We also support policies and protective legal structures, such as the Brazilian Forest Code.

Cartica shares the Coalition’s view that there does not need to be a trade-off between growth and environmental sustainability. We believe that inclusive and sustainable business can lead to new opportunities for companies and individuals around the world. Consistent with this view, we look forward to working with the Coalition and with our portfolio companies to promote new solutions for a more sustainable economy in Brazil.
